SHIRLEY LAURO is an
award-winning playwright whose ensemble play A Piece
Of My Heart premiered at Manhattan Theatre Club in
1991 and was revived by 3Graces Theater Co. last
November. A Piece Of My Heart tells the stories of
six incredible American women in wartime Vietnam,
and opened 3Graces' main stage series focusing on
women's "War Stories." Lauro's full-length plays
include Open Admissions, for which she received Tony
and Drama Desk nominations; The Contest; Pearls On
The Moon; Margaret and Kit; Speckled Birds; and Out
Of Time. Her two latest plays, Clarence Darrow's
Last Trial and All Through The Night will have their
premieres this year. Lauro has been honored with
numerous playwriting awards and fellowships, and
Open Admissions was named one of the New York
Times's "Ten Best Plays of the Year." 3Graces is
honored to continue their relationship with Ms.
Lauro by presenting her with an Amazing Grace Award,
recognizing her enormous contributions to telling
women's stories on stage through sensitive,
insightful works of theater.

MARGOT
STEVENSON began her career in Katherine
Cornell's last great tour of the US, playing Bella
Hedley in The Barretts of Wimpole Street, a part she
also played on Broadway. She understudied Margaret
Sullivan in Stage Door and went on to play the
original Alice Sycamore in You Can't Take It With
You. Her Broadway credits include A Party with Mrs.
Patrick Campbell, Venus Observed directed by
Laurence Olivier, and The Rugged Path starring
Spencer Tracy. She has also appeared in several
national tours and in London's West End, where she
starred in The Seven Year Itch and Sweet Peril.
Among her many radio credits, Ms. Stevenson played
Margo Lane in The Shadow opposite Orson Welles. More
recently, Ms. Stevenson has been active in regional
theatres including GeVa, Syracuse Stage, and
Hartford Stage. Off- and Off-Off- Broadway, she has
done readings and workshops for Ensemble Studio
Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club and Hudson Guild
Theatre. Playing Tireseus in Traveling Light's
production of The Bacchae at the first FringeNYC
marked the third time Miss Stevenson acted with her
daughter, 3Graces company member Margot Avery.

lifetime of accomplishments in the arts, and as an

BOTTOMLESS CLOSET is a not-for-profit
organization created to promote economic
self-sufficiency by providing interview skills,
business clothing, and ongoing career development
and support programs to New York City women on
public assistance and other economically
disadvantaged women. By enhancing their
self-confidence and self-sufficiency, Bottomless
Closet enables these women to enter and succeed in
the workforce and transform the vision for their
lives. Bottomless Closet serves nearly 1,000 women
in the New York City area each year with one-on-one
workshops and events for job seekers and employed
women, all of which are free of charge. Donna

ELLEN
T. ARTHUR has
more than twenty years experience with securities,
hedge funds, banking, among other areas of business
expertise. As the Director of Sales and Marketing
for Lexolution, LLC, she helps to shepherd attorneys
and paralegals as they begin new journeys. An avid
athlete – Ms. Arthur has completed three New York
City marathons – she is also a docent at Gracie
Mansion Conservancy and a devoted volunteer at
numerous schools (University of Pennsylvania,
Hofstra University School of Law, The Hewitt School,
The Browning School) and with UJA and City of Hope.
3Graces honors Ms.
Arthur in recognition of her generous support of
numerous NYC organizations, as well as her
commitment to nurturing the beginning of 3Graces'
story as an emerging women’s organization by setting
up relationships for 3Graces with experienced
business professionals and her stalwart belief in

SCOTT
A director and actor, Ms.
Scott is an Associate Artist at San Diego’s Old
Globe Theatre where she has directed more than ten
productions, including the world premiere of
Knowing Cairo and a new adaptation of The
Trojan Women. Other Off-Broadway and regional
work includes Birdie Blue at Second Stage
Company and productions at Arena Stage, Hartford
Stage, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Yale Rep, Long Wharf
Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Oregon
Shakespeare Festival, McCarter Theatre, South Coast
Rep, ACT-SF, Vivo Flamenco, Ford’s Theater, Studio
Arena Theatre, Center Stage, Alley Theatre, Indiana
Rep, New Mexico Rep, Actor's Theatre of Louisville,
Alliance Theatre, and others. She has received
directing nominations from the Beverly Hills NAACP,
Helen Hayes Committee, Connecticut Critics Circle,
and the Audelcos. As an actress. Ms. Scott
performed in the Broadway production of For
Colored Girls… and in My Sister, My Sister,
for which she received a Drama Desk Award.
3Graces honors Ms. Scott for the powerful message
that her artistic journey sends to both artists and
audiences, and the incredible example, support and
guidance that she provides to the company.

LUKES-ROOSEVELT CRIME VICTIMS
TREATMENT CENTER and director SUSAN XENARIOS
SCOTT
Established in 1977, the
Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) of St.
Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital is now the largest and
most comprehensive hospital-based victim assistance
program in New York State. CVTC has provided a model
for other health care institutions in the United
States and around the world in the respectful
treatment of survivors of family and intimate
partner violence, sexual assault, childhood sexual
abuse, and other forms of violence and crime. CVTC’s
mission is to empower survivors of violence through:

Treatment:
providing compassionate clinical and supportive
services which are accessible to victims of
crime and to their loved ones without regard to
residence or ability to pay;

Collaboration:
developing innovative collaborations in order to
expand resources and options, bridge service
gaps, and promote integrated responses to the
needs of crime victims;

Education:
providing trainings on violence prevention and
effective treatment of survivors of violence to
schools, law enforcement, other health care
professionals and the community at large;

Research:
developing and implementing research initiatives
to increase understanding of the complex social
and psychological consequences of violence for
victims and for society and to identify best
practice models.
Susan Xenarios, founder and Director of the
Crime Victims Treatment Center, is also
Co-Chairperson for the Downstate Coalition for Crime
Victims and the Manhattan Task Force against Sexual
Assault and presently serves on the Advisory Council
for the NYS Crime Victims Board, the NYS DOH Rape
Crisis Advisory Executive Council, The NYS Attorney
General's Advisory for Crime Victims, NYS Coalitions
Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, the
Mayor’s Advisory Task Force on Domestic Violence and
a member of the Board of Directors of NYC Alliance
Against Sexual Assault. 3Graces honors CVTC and
Susan Xenarios for their commitment to the
respectful treatment of the survivors of violence
and crime and for empowering survivors to continue
their life stories.
