3Graces Theater Co.
is committed to exposing and exploring the power of
women’s experiences through theater. To this end, we
shall:
-
Give voice to women’s stories, both new and
old, acknowledging that these stories are too
often excluded or discounted despite their
timeless relevance to our world.
-
Present our stories truthfully through
careful dramaturgy, immersing ourselves and our
audience in the world of the play beyond the
script to create an educational, cultural and
spiritual exchange among the work, the company,
and the community.
-
Develop a skilled and committed ensemble of
women and men from all artistic disciplines
dedicated to creating enduring collaborative
relationships and sustaining a respectful
working environment that inspires.
In Greek mythology, the three Graces were
daughters of Zeus who, with their cohorts the Muses,
brought talent and inspiration to artists. They have
represented many virtues throughout the ages – most
prominently beauty, joy, and charity – and are
consistently associated with the arts. Always
pictured as an inseparable trio, the Graces are
legendarily charming and civil, and have been
credited with making enjoyment of the arts possible.
We are drawn to the Graces as an elegant emblem of
an artistic ensemble whose allure flows from a
wellspring of unity, generosity and amiability –
reminding us that grace and art saturate all we do. |
